Praying for the World

LOOKING OUT  7.4.24

Last weekend we celebrated Easter as we do each year to remind us what Easter is all about to people of faith. It is the foundation of our Christian belief that Jesus Christ died on the cross but rose from the dead to become our resurrected Lord and Saviour who sits on the right hand of God for all Eternity.

We are part of a community of faith loving and serving God to the best of our ability and no one can take away from us the joy of serving and doing his will and the joy of having Jesus as our Saviour.

Today more than ever Christian voices need to rise through the clamour of adversarial politics, commerce, education and relationships and assert that there is no place for racism and gender divisions and war to solve the problems of countries.

I am sure that Christian people around the world join in prayer each Sunday for peace between the waring nations and an end to the loss of thousands of lives.

As a Christian congregation we do not know how the two wars between Russia and Ukraine Israel and Palestine will end. The United Nations General Assembly continue to meet to try and negotiate a cease fire but the leaders of Russia and Israel will not co-operate.

We will continue to pray for an end to the hostilities in both countries. GI
